WORKERS within the secretariat of South-East Governors’ Discussion board have decried the non-payment of their over six months wages.
The chief of the protesters, Nwafor Obodo, who mentioned most of them had been employed on the director cadre, expressed dissatisfaction with how tasks collectively owned by the 5 state governors had suffered setback as a consequence of poor funding, citing the Ebubeagu safety outfit.
He mentioned,”The workers of SEGF haven’t been paid a dime as salaries since February, 2021, and haven’t been supplied with any type of help to cushion the excruciating pains they’ve been subjected to by those that employed them (the governors).
“They’ve been spending public funds on frivolous issues – to acquire patronage from political hirelings, judicial officers and the like.”
Efforts to get the response of the discussion board’s Director-Common Prof Simon Ortuanya, failed as he didn’t reply to calls. He had but to answer to a textual content message despatched to his cell phone as of the time of submitting this report.
